Brunswick Co. mother facing child abduction charges
NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Brunswick County mother is facing child abduction charges following a custody battle, according to New Hanover County Sheriff’s deputies.
A spokesman said their investigation into of two missing children reported by the father eventually led them to the mother and children. The mother and kids, 2 and 5, along with one other child, were found at a shelter in Bakersfield, California, according to deputies.
Deputies said the mother, Melissa Amundsen, is in jail in California, awaiting extradition back to North Carolina.
All three children were taken to an emergency shelter and foster care facility in California.
