Soccer studs participate in bachelor auction for Make-A-Wish

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Make-A-Wish Eastern North Carolina served up something special for Wilmington Hammerheads fans Friday night at the Fox and Hound. Some of the soccer studs were auctioned off to raise money for Make-A-Wish.

The highest bidder had a choice of a date, or soccer lessons. Organizers and players said this is a fun way to raise money for a good cause.

“We’re just happy to be here and just have a good time with everybody. The more money we can make for Make-A Wish, the better,” said Peabo Doue, a defender for the Wilmington Hammerheads.

“They have been happy, they have been excited, they have just been nothing but supportive of the effort for Make-A-Wish and just getting out and being in Wilmington,” said Jackie Jordan an advocate for Make-A-Wish.

Friday night’s fundraiser goal was $7,500.

If you want to see the guys in action they will be hosting UNCW in an exhibition game next Friday.
