ONLY ON 3 UPDATE: Carolina Beach woman out of jail after ‘glitch in system’

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Carolina Beach woman arrest last Wednesday on a fugitive warrant from Texas has been released from jail.

Monday night we met Carrie Marie Stone, a mother and dance studio owner. She said there was a warrant out for her arrest from Houston  for a probation violation close to two decades ago. But she was unexpectedly released Tuesday.

When we spoke with Stone from the New Hanover County jail Monday she said she was charged with felony possession of marijuana in 1996. She said she paid her fines and did her community service, but  didn’t complete her probation.

She moved to North Carolina, became a dance instructor and a mom. Stone thought her case was inactive until her arrest last Wednesday.

In a message to us Stone said she was told Houston installed a new computer system and it created warrants for old cases.

She had this to say about her release.

“I am over the moon ecstatic to tell all of my dear friends and family that the past ordeal is officially over. It was a ‘glitch in the system’. I am home,” said Stone.

Stone’s status about her release has gotten more than 150 likes on Facebook and more than 60 comments. She is getting a lot of positive feedback.

We have made several calls to the Houston DA’s office to ask about the system glitch and we are waiting to hear back.

We also have a call into Stone’s attorney about what’s next for her legally.
