Detectives seeking possible victims of former Carolina Beach officer

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Detectives with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office are asking for anyone who might have encountered a former Carolina Beach reserve police officer to come forward. He’s facing multiple charges for sex crimes.

A spokeswoman said Joseph Adam Silva, 29, of Raleigh Avenue in Carolina Beach, was recently charged with multiple crimes including impersonating a law enforcement officer and rape. If you were involved with him, please contact the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office. She said encounters may have included assault or attempted assault and Silva misrepresenting himself as law enforcement.

The spokeswoman said in previous incidents, Silva targeted females with ads on websites such as Backpage or Craigslist. Detectives would like to assure anyone who comes forward that they will not be incriminated for their actions regarding those ads.

Anyone who may have encountered Joseph Adam Silva is asked to contact Capt. Laurie Watson at (910) 880-4842.
