Diverging Diamond scheduled to be completed this weekend
LELAND, NC (WWAY) — The Diverging Diamond Interchange in Leland is schedule to be completed this weekend, according to a spokesman with the North Carolina Department of Transportation.
The new interchange was originally set to open to traffic on NC 133 back in December, and then again in April. Both times, the opening was delayed because of inclement weather, according to the NCDOT.
NC 133 is now scheduled to be closed between the interchange ramps for US 17/74/46 near Belville and Leland starting Friday at 9 p.m. The area is set to re-open to traffic Monday at 6 a.m.
The Diverging Diamond features two directions of traffic to temporarily cross the left side of the road. The new traffic pattern is said to help with traffic in that area of Leland, according to the NCDOT.
