City of Wilmington and New Hanover County employees hit the court for charity
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — City and county employees balled out for a good cause Thursday night. The United Way held a charity basketball tournament featuring the men and woman who work for Wilmington and New Hanover County to cap off its fundraising season.
The $5 admission went to the United Way of the Cape Fear Area’s Community Impact Fund.
Tommy Taylor, executive vice president of the United Way Cape Fear Area, said overall they’ve raised $44,000 this year.
“Collectively that’ll change at least 3,000 lives, help people be self-sustainable and live healthy lives. It’s very exciting to see all these stake holders come together and change this community,” said Taylor.
The City of Wilmington edged out New Hanover County 48 to 41.
