School gathers for teen’s Make-A-Wish reveal
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A local teen is celebrating her birthday, today, with the surprise of a lifetime.
Faith Hart turns 14 today and got a chance to celebrate with a surprise assembly of hundreds of classmates and her family, at Myrtle Grove Middle School. The special assembly was actually a wish party hosted by Make-A-Wish to grant Faith a trip on a cruise.
The now active and determined teen was born with a rare heart defect and underwent three open heart surgeries by the age of two.
“It was very tough sleeping in a hospital for 40 days on a blow up mattress on the floor, and being by her side every minute of the day, it was really tough,” said Faith’s dad, Ronald Hart. He said he and his family are excited for their adventure with Faith.
“I’m really excited for the dolphin part and for the parasailing part, I’m afraid of heights, but it will probably be worth it,” Faith said.
Make-A-Wish Eastern NC will grant more than 200 wishes to area children during the year.
