Man, home hit by overnight gunfire

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police are looking for the person or persons responsible in an overnight shooting.

Police said the shooting happened around 12:19 a.m. in the 800-block of Campbell Street. A spokeswoman said officers were in the area and heard gunshots. They said they saw a dark-colored Jeep leaving the area. 818 Campbell Street was damaged in shooting. No one was hurt inside.

A WPD spokeswoman said officers were later told a man suffering gunshot wounds was at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. No word on his condition.

Police recovered a handgun and shell casings in the area.
