350 paratroopers return from Afghanistan

FORT BRAGG — It was a joyful homecoming for some 350 paratroopers from the 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade in Fort Bragg today.

The troops arrived home after a one-year deployment. During that time they provided aviation support throughout Afghanistan.

The 82nd Brigade flew more than 80,000 flight hours and transported 50,000 passengers.

Major Earnhardt said, “They’re doing a great job for us. And we’re looking forward to having the all American band back though.”

Family members said the yearlong deployment was difficult but were happy to see their loved ones come home safely.

“Their tour comes to an end and they’ll come back and re-train and re-group and get ready to go again. And that’s the key, flexibility,” Major Earnhardt said.
