3rd Annual North Carolina Rice Festival

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — Thousands of people are expected to attend the 3rd Annual North Carolina Rice Festival this weekend. The two day event is going on at The Brunswick Riverwalk at Belville.

There are more than 60 vendors accompanied by live entertainment, and the 2nd Annual North Carolina Rice Festival Pageant. The event is family friendly and runs Saturday and Sunday 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Organizer, WC Lanier said making events fun for the community is what he strives for.

“To bring people together in the community,” said Lanier. “And to make them aware of the history of rice in our region. And to enjoy this beautiful park they have over here with the Riverwalk they’re expanding on. Most people don’t realize it’s like a hidden secret.”

So far, the turn out has been bigger than past years. Lanier expects more than 4,000 people to attend over the weekend.
