WPD: 3rd man linked to December teen murder arrested
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police said a traffic stop led to the third arrest in one of two teen homicides in the past month.
Police said during a traffic stop last night around 5 p.m. in the 2300 block of Princess Place Drive, two men were arrested. Police said Anthony Slaughter, 21, had a warrant out for him in the murder of 16-year-old Shane Simpson, as well as other outstanding warrants on other charges including drug charges.
Police said another man in the car, Joshua Wright, was also arrested and is facing drug charges. Police said they found marijuana, bindles of heroin and money in the car during the traffic stop.
Slaughter is in jail under no bond. Wright is in jail under a $500,000 bond.
