CFPUA issues precautionary boil water advisory for Myrtle Grove area this weekend
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Approximately 120 Cape Fear Public Utility Authority customers will be under a precautionary boil water advisory Saturday, July 25, while crews complete work on the water distribution system.
The advisory will begin at 9 a.m. and affect customers at the following locations:
- The 5400–6200 blocks of Myrtle Grove Road
- Sapphire Ridge Road
- Tall Ship Lane
- Tall Mast Court
- Avalon Avenue
- Caribe Court
- Grove Lane
- Marsh Cove Lane
- 5101 Peden Point Road
CFPUA said customers in the affected area may experience temporary water service interruptions while the work is underway. Low or no water pressure can increase the risk of bacteria entering the water system, prompting the precautionary advisory.
Residents are advised to boil tap water for one minute and allow it to cool before using it for drinking, brushing teeth, making ice, preparing food or baby formula, washing fruits and vegetables, or giving it to pets. Bottled water may also be used.
Boiling water is not necessary for showering or bathing, according to CFPUA.
The utility said the advisory will remain in effect until water quality testing confirms the water is safe to drink. An update will be issued once the advisory has been lifted.
