4 NC teenagers charged with killing taxi driver

RALEIGH — Authorities accuse four teenagers of killing a Raleigh taxi driver during an attempted robbery.

Police say 59-year-old Michael Palmer was found shot to death outside his cab late Monday in an apartment parking lot.

The News & Observer of Raleigh reports Saturday that three of the suspects were already in jail when police charged them with murder. They are 19-year-old Eugene Dumas III, 17-year-old Xavia Barnes, and 19-year-old Alexander Gonzales.

Raleigh police say the three were arrested Thursday on unrelated burglary charges.

Nineteen-year-old Jayshon Norment was arrested Friday night. All four are on probation for previous convictions.

The four are scheduled to appear before a judge on Monday.

Palmer is the second Raleigh cab driver killed this year.
