5th annual Canines & Couture raises awareness about puppy mills
NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington event that raises awareness about pet adoption and the need to end puppy mills hit the runway Thursday night.
Rescue pups strutted their stuff down the runway to show their support for less fortunate dogs at the 5th annual Canines and Couture fashion show.
There were even appearances by models from the ‘Real Men Adopt’ 2017 calendar.
The main purpose of the event is to raise awareness about the need to end puppy mills in North Carolina.
“We’re here tonight to help raise awareness to adopt pets, to spay and neuter them and give them loving homes because we have far too many of our most vulnerable members in shelters and in puppy mills right now in North Carolina,” New Hanover County District Attorney Ben David said.
Proceeds from the event will go to local rescue groups.
