6th grader writes will in case he gets killed in school
(WIAT/CNN) – An Alabama mother said school shootings have prompted her sixth-grade son, Javon, and his best friend to write out a will, in case something happened to them in school.
“I could not believe it you know. I mean my child is in the 6th grade. This is something he should not be thinking about,” said Mariama Davies, Javon’s mother.
Davies said Javon and his best friend wrote the wills after his middle school received a threat.
“Just in case something happened to one of us because some kids get rowdy, they might get somebody shot or something,” Javon said.
But his will also had a special message.
“I said, dear family. I love you all. You gave me the clothes on my back and you stuck with me all the time. Love Javon,” he told WIAT.
And those words brought his mom to tears.
“It’s really hard because he’s so young. He just shouldn’t have to go through that period because for what? He’s in 6th grade. You have a lot ahead of you,” Davies added.
But with all the shootings and threats around the country, Davies said that’s reality now. But somehow, she noted she and her son can’t live in fear.
“but I know it’s going to be ok because God got me in his hands,” Davies said.
There have been at least 14 school shootings in the US this year.
