7 acres on Surry Street rezoned as light industrial

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) – City Council voted to rezone roughly 7 acres on Scurry Street as light industrial, which is a change from the landowner’s initial request.

Originally the owner wanted to rezone most of the land as industrial.

The zoning would accommodate offices, a distribution center or even a warehouse facility.

In April, the City Planning commission failed to endorse the project, because some members were concerned about exactly would go on the site.
