7th Annual Street Turkeys of Wilmington event aims to fill the food pantry
WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — The holidays are upon us, and that means it’s the season of giving. Tomorrow you can do just that by heading to The Landing in Wrightsville Beach from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The Annual Street Turkeys of Wilmington event is looking to restock the shelves of the Food Bank of Central and Eastern NC.
Organizers said things like frozen turkeys and hams, canned goods, rice, pasta and baby materials are always in high demand. They said just one dollar can provide up to five meals.
“It’s an enormous undertaking that hundreds of people participate in throughout our Wilmington community. Last year’s drive collected enough food to create 600,000 meals for those in need,” said Beth Gaglione the branch director.
Additional donations may be made that same day from 11:30 am-6:30 pm at the following Harris Teeter locations: Lumina Commons (1940 Eastwood Road, Wilmington), Mayfaire Community Center (6805 Parker Farm Road, Wilmington), Hanover Center (3501 Oleander Drive, Wilmington) and Oak Landing Shopping Center (8260 Market Street, Porter’s Neck).
