911 call from Supply shooting: “I know CPR. He’s beyond that… It’s too late.”
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A neighbor witnessed a man driving off from the scene of a deadly shooting in Supply, according to the 911 call.
Jeffrey Len Carlyle, 56, is charged with murder in the death of Carl Edward Robinson.
It happened Friday around 8 p.m. on Paddlewheel Trail.
One neighbor called 911 and told dispatchers several people heard the shooting. He then describes going over and finding the victim.
“My neighbor saw someone down in this area. We have walked back over to the house where he saw the gentleman run from and someone has been shot at this house right here,” the caller said. “We see the gentleman laying here, he’s outside his, he’s laying between his door and his porch.”
He tells 911 his neighbor saw someone running from the scene, so he says he is handing the phone over to that neighbor.
A new man gets on the phone and begins to describe what he saw before and after the shooting.
“I saw a vehicle come down the road, and they turned their lights off, and they pulled up at the end of this road and I saw them walk down the road and I heard a gunshot and they ran back to their vehicle, put a gun in their vehicle and took off,” the man said.
He then tells 911 that the victim appears to be shot in the abdomen.
“Is he breathing? Can you just check?” the dispatcher asked.
“He’s, he’s gone,” the caller replied.
A little while later the dispatcher once again asked about the victim.
“Do you want to try CPR? I can give you instructions or do you think he’s beyond that?” the operator asked
“I know CPR,” the caller said. “He’s beyond that. He’s… it’s too late.”
Carlyle was booked in the Brunswick County Detention Center and charged with murder a few hours later.
He is currently being held without bond.
