Queen Azalea makes her way to the Port City

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Queen is here! Well, she’s actually been in the Port City for a couple of days now enjoying the area before she says the “craziness starts”, but her officially duties begin today.

Mallory Hagan arrived at the Hilton Wilmington Riverside at noon, ahead of her portrait at Greenfield Lake later this afternoon.

She says she is looking forward to experiencing Wilmington’s traditions while she serves as the Queen Azalea.

Hagan, who was Miss America 2013, says the southern hospitality has been her favorite part of the Cape Fear so far, but by the end of the week she says she’s sure her list will be a lot longer.

“On Thursday I am looking forward to meeting the kids. But, I have to say getting to see Nelly in concert is pretty rocking, and who is ever going to be mad about seeing Alan Jackson while you’re in the South?” said Hagan.
