Southport, Sunset Beach and Wilmington top best towns to retire list

SOUTHPORT, NC (WWAY) — Some of the Cape Fear’s coastal destinations have topped a list of best places to retire in the Carolinas.

“Where to Retire” magazine has named Southport one of the “8 Coastal Camelots of the Carolinas.”

Dale Boden, a Southport retiree, says he agrees that his town is the place to spend your golden years.

“I just fell in love with the quaintness,” Boden said. “It’s just a great place to live. Climate is good, people are fantastic. It’s just a nice place to live.”

Wilmington and Sunset Beach also made the list.

The list of towns will be in the May-June issue of “Where to Retire.”
