Save UNCW Track surpasses $250K goal to save season

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — UNCW Track and Field will have a 2015-2016 season after fundraising efforts helped the group surpass its goal of $250,000.

According to a statement from the university, Save UNCW Track has raised $255,781.59 in order to sustain the program through the next season. The next step is to raise $1 million by February 1, 2016. That money will preserve and renovate the track facility.

“This was a terrific effort, and we would like to thank the donors who supported this endeavor, including the running community, our students, alumni, local business owners, corporate partners and the friends and family of our student-athletes,” a statement from the university read.
