ILM asks passengers to arrive earlier as flights increase

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — There are more ways to get where you need to go from Wilmington International Airport.

Both Delta and American have added more non stop service to Laguardia, Atlanta and Washington, DC. New flights, though, mean more people at ILM, which is why folks at the airport recommend you arrive at least 90 minutes early for flights during peak times. It’s a change they feel is necessary to accommodate more passengers.

“Airlines are asking for that, and what we’re looking at is with these additional flights means more passengers, obviously, trying to get through the checkpoint, especially during the morning launch, that first flight of the day.” ILM Operations Director Gary Broughton said.

The new flight to Laguardia isn’t all new. Delta pulled the flight a few years ago, but added it back because of demand.

Brouhgton says if you like the new flights, then use them, so they’ll be more likely to stick around.
