Anderson Elementary reassigning students

WILMINGTON — One New Hanover County school is again reassigning students for the coming school year.

Anderson Elementary was built to accommodate 570 students. They expect to have more than 700.

Administrators have decided to move students within the same neighborhood to a school that they are already familiar with.

Seventy-three students currently attending Anderson Elementary will be reassigned to Bellamy Elementary.

Assistant Superintendent Dr. Rick Holliday said, “Moving children from one school to the other is traumatic for parents and children, but Bellamy and Anderson are both very good schools, and the staff and students and principal and parents at Bellamy will be welcoming these children back to Bellamy and we’ll be glad to see them.”

Students who are affected by the change will be reassigned to Bellamy for the 2008-2009 school year.
