Carolina Beach leaders reviewing police chief applications

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — The Carolina Beach town manager said about 70 people have applied to be the next chief of police.

Town Manager Michael Cramer said they closed off the application process last week. Cramer said applications came in from all over the country. They’re looking to fill the position after former chief Ken Hinkle was fired in May.

“The key is to have the right person in the right position and make sure we get a good police chief moving forward,” Cramer said.

Cramer expects it will take at least a week to through the applications. Interviews will be scheduled for next month.
