Program helping diverse high school students improve their communities

A new program at UNC Wilmington is helping diverse high school students improve their communities.

The program is called “Need 2 Lead.”

Two-hundred-fifty students from across the state applied for the program, and only 30 were accepted.

All weekend, the students will learn leadership skills through different activities. After the workshops the students will take what they’ve learned into the community and start their own service program.

Next spring the students will return to UNCW for a leadership symposium to showcase their completed service project.

High school guidance counselors nominate students for the program.
