Education App set to debut August 24 for New Hanover Co. schools

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The school year is only a few weeks away and you might be buying your school supplies and new clothes for you or the kids, but have you thought about downloading this educational smart-phone app?

It’s called the Education App LLC and by August 24th, each of the 43 schools in New Hanover County will have their own.

CEO and Founder of Education App LLC Jonathan Weiss says, “I could see that this could replace textbooks at some time.”

Many would agree the way technology has changed over the years is quite incredible.

“Every parent has a phone, and this will be their communication tool,” said Weiss.

Parents, students, anyone with a mobile device can find information about a school including teacher sites, assignments, and student forms that parents can return using your phone.

By downloading the app you can find out if there are any school delays, what your child is going to have for lunch that day or even watch a live stream a sports game.

New Hanover High School Student Akena Drayton say she’ll use the app to keep up with sports.

Drayton said, “I’ll look up the football schedule to go support my team and classmates and my school.”

For families with more than one child, they can add multiple schools as well.

The app is free to download and there’s another plus, “40 cents of every ad dollar spent on the app goes back to our school district,” says Weiss.

Developers say their motto is changing the way schools do business and this is the first step.

Weiss added, “The possibilities are unlimited.”

You can download the app in Google Play or in the App Store.
