Lumberton woman scratches off winning ticket

LUMBERTON, NC (WWAY) — A Lumberton woman won $100,000 after she scratched off a lucky $5 Mega Bucks ticket Saturday.

Kimberly Brewer plans to use the prize to pay off her mortgage and her car.

Brewer bought the winning ticket at the Minuteman Food Mart on MLK Jr. Drive in Lumberton.

“I was so nervous I was shaking,” Brewer said. “I couldn’t believe it. I still can’t. All I can say is that it came at a good time.”

After taxes, Brewer walked away with nearly $70, 000.

The Mega Bucks game went on sale August 4 with 10 top prizes. As of Monday morning, eight more top prizes remain to be claimed in the game.
