Bill allows North Carolina National Guard to carry concealed guns
RALEIGH, NC (WWAY) — Governor Pat McCrory signed a bill into law Tuesday that will allow North Carolina National Guard troops to carry concealed guns at recruiting offices.
This comes in response to a deadly shooting last month at a recruiting office in Tennessee.
The idea is that this new law will make National Guard troops and facilities safer by letting our citizen soldiers carry concealed weapons on duty.
“This common sense legislation addresses my core philosophy of protecting and defending our military their families and veterans in North Carolina any way we can,” said McCrory.
Additionally, the bill provides North Carolina citizens legal remedies should they be victims of a terrorist attack or harmed from someone who materially supports terrorism. The new law allows a victim to sue for perpetrators for up to three times the amount of actual damages or $50,000 whichever is greater.
