Driver faces charges after hitting family walking in Carolina Beach
CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — A driver faces several charges after police say he hit a family visiting from New Jersey with his car Sunday.
Captain Harry Humphries with the Carolina Beach Police Department said Jeremy Brown, 30, from Garner was driving in the 1300 block of Lake Park Boulevard around 1:00 p.m. when he swerved off the road into the bike lane.
Humphries said Brown hit a family of four with two children in a dual stroller. He said they went to the hospital. The mother has a broken bone and the father has some cuts and bruises. Humphries said the 3-year-old has stitches in the head and the infant was okay. He said they are facing non-life threatening injuries.
Humphries said officers are asking the magistrate to charge Brown with driving while impaired, possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana paraphernalia. He also faces four counts of assault with a deadly weapon among other things.
