8 sea turtles go home

SURF CITY, NC (WWAY) —  Eight sea turtles are back in their natural habitat.

This morning, the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center staff along with dozens of volunteers released the turtles into the Atlantic ocean from the north end of Surf City around 10:00.

The eight turtles are: Creek, Geo, SeaShore, Heckle, Alvin, Lil Dude, Mickey and Portia.

Hospital staff said these turtles passed all of their tests and were ready to go home. The rain did not stop that from happening Wednesday morning.
