Southwest says it expects normal day of operations

DALLAS (AP) – Southwest Airlines says it’s still trying to get some delayed passengers where they’re going, and to deliver baggage. But it says it’s expecting the technical systems that run its customer service to perform normally today.

Technology issues delayed hundreds of flights yesterday, and Southwest had been telling passengers to allow plenty of time today. But they now say travelers should expect a normal day.

Southwest used backup systems around the country on Sunday to check-in travelers lacking printed or mobile boarding passes.

Airline representatives have not said what was causing the problem, but a spokesman has said there was no indication that hackers were behind it.

There were about 450 delays out of 3,600 flights scheduled Sunday.
