NC DMV upgrades rolled out by Gov. McCrory
GARNER, NC (AP) — North Carolina state officials say technology and customer service upgrades at the Division of Motor Vehicles should mean reduced wait times at driver’s license offices. Some people now do not have to visit at all.
Gov. Pat McCrory announced Monday at a Wake County DMV office the rollout of his administration’s efforts to improve DMV statewide. He also signed a bill into law to allow the use of “e-signatures” for people to receive vehicle title and registration copies.
McCrory says the 25 busiest DMV offices will soon get updated technology that includes cameras at every license examiner station. Credit and debit card payments are now accepted. Self-service online kiosks coming to offices also will mean fewer people having to wait.
Online license renewals for some drivers have occurred since June.
