Uber reports 5 million rides in NC
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Uber says it has completed more than five million rides in North Carolina since launching here two years ago.
The company, which uses a mobile app to pair riders and drivers, says it has created more than 23,000 job opportunities in the state. It says Uber drivers have made about $50 million in North Carolina, including $4 million by UberMILITARY partners.
Uber says those five million rides have logged nearly 30 million miles, which is more than 120 trips to the moon.
Earlier this year state lawmakers developed regulations for ride-sharing services like Uber and Lyft. The rules came as taxi drivers demanded changes to help make sure the services played by similar rules as their business.
