College Park Elementary creates ecosystems
Science was served at College Park Elementary’s cafeteria Friday. The kindergarten through fifth grade school had its first ever science fair this week, called the Discovery Walk.
Projects were set up in the cafeteria, and parents were invited to come take a look with their kids. Students said it was fun, and they learned something in the process. One fifth grade class created terrarium and aquarium ecosystems.
“Well, I really liked how we put crickets in, putting all the pill bugs and watching the plants grow,” said 5th grader, Remy Hoelen.
DeShawn Weeden, also a 5th grader said, “I liked how the ecosystems react when they’re put together, and if one ecosystem is disturbed then the other kind of gets off track as well.”
The Discovery Walk was not a competition, but a fun way to take learning beyond the classroom.
