Expectations for 2016 in politics, the economy, sports, entertainment and more

(AP) — The new year will be a big one in politics. Pundits say the presidential election will see to that.

As for the economy, many experts will be following the Federal Reserve’s movements. Advances in technology will continue, with drones, virtual reality, and wearable devices expected to be more popular. In health care, doctors expect wider use of telemedicine and individualized medical treatments such as those based on genetics.

If all goes well, American astronaut Scott Kelly will mark one year in orbit, aboard the International Space Station.

In entertainment, singer Adele is expected to have her first U.S. tour since 2011.

TV fans will say goodbye to PBS’ “Downton Abbey” and Fox’s “American Idol,” which will have their final seasons.
