Charlotte, Denver rabbis talk trash over Super Bowl

CHARLOTTE, NC (WSOC) — The Super Bowl is like a national holiday. It may still be a far cry from a religious one, but that’s not stopping a Charlotte rabbi and a Denver rabbi from going at it. They made videos, supporting the Panthers and Broncos, respectively, to raise money for charity.

In the Charlotte video, Temple Beth El Rabbi Judy Schindler jokingly says, “God’s chosen team: the Carolina Panthers.” She goes on to say, “Our quarterback, Cam Newton, five weeks ago, fathered a child and named that child ‘Chosen.’ God loves chosen people.”

In the Denver video, Temple Emanuel’s Rabbi Joe Black doesn’t appear, but the clip is complete with ominous music, menacing phrases, and pictures of Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning.
