Coast Guard honors aviation program’s centennial anniversary

KILL DEVIL HILLS, NC (WWAY) — U.S. Coast Guard helicopter crews from Air Station Elizabeth City flew in formation Wednesday near the Wright Brothers National Memorial in Kill Devil Hills in honor of the Coast Guard’s aviation program’s centennial anniversary.

The Coast Guard has strong connections to the Wright Brothers’ first flight, as crews from the U.S. Life-Saving Service assisted the brothers, making them the first aircraft ground crew.
