Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Wilmington Alumnae Chapter gives Christmas gift bags to senior citizens

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — One organization making an effort to give back this holiday season.

The Wilmington Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority provided Christmas gift bags to senior citizens of Brunswick, New Hanover, and Pender Counties over the weekend.

These ladies began giving gift bags to the audience in place of their senior dinner they formerly hosted before pandemic disruptions.

The gift bags are prepared with fruit, gifts, a scarf and footies, a health tip bookmark and Christmas card

Organizers say the seniors look forward to the visit from sorority sisters as much as the actual gift bag.

“It means a whole lot because sometimes some of them don’t get to see or talk to anyone for days, so we try to go by and deliver and just give them a kind word and let them know we’re thinking about them,” said Acquinetta Beatty, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Wilmington Alumnae Chapter President.

This is the organization’s fourth year of packing and delivering Christmas treats for our seniors, and were delivered to over 100 seniors in Brunswick, New Hanover, and Pender Counties.
