Town of Leland continues to look at proposed minor league baseball team
LELAND, NC (WWAY) — Spring training for baseball is a month away and baseball is still on the table for the Town of Leland.
The wooded area near Meadow Park in Brunswick Forest is the proposed site of a minor league baseball stadium. The town paid for a feasibility study last year after Brunswick County leaders decided against funding the project. The study found construction of a stadium would total about $105-million and generate thousands of jobs.
WWAY reached out to the Town of Leland on the current status of the project. Town officials stressed that they are continuing to weigh the pros and cons of agreeing to bring a ballpark to the area. There are also no planned discussion at this time with Leland Town Council on the project.
WWAY also reached out to REV Entertainment for comment on the status of the project, but have yet to hear back.
