paws4people announces Dog of the Year contest winner, Remington

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Remington has been named the paws4people Dog of the Year contest winner.

Remington is a nine-year-old Golden Retriever from Chapel Hill who will have his characterization and name on a limited run of Wrightsville Beach Brewery Amber Ale.

He is a paws4people Rehabilitative Facility Dog who works alongside his handler Terri Jo Rucinski, the athletic trainer for the UNC Chapel Hill Baseball Team and a physical therapist for UNC.

Remington received more than 14,346 votes in the contest from his loyal supporters, beating out more than 69 other dog entries.

The contest raised more than $32,053 benefitting paws4people foundation. The organization raises, trains, and places customized Assistance Dogs free of charge with children, veterans, military dependents, first responders, and civilians living with life altering disabilities.
