Five detained following shooting in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington police are investigating following a shooting at an apartment complex in Wilmington.

Police responded to the 4600 block of Greentree Road around 3:00 pm on Friday afternoon.

Police say it happened outdoors at an apartment complex. When police arrived, they identified possible suspects who ran into a nearby apartment building. Shortly after, officers were able to get inside and clear the apartment.

Five people have been detained. Police say more information will be released as it becomes available.
