Wilmington Police Department swears new officers in

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)– The Wilmington Police Department welcoming its newest officers at a swearing-in ceremony Tuesday afternoon 

More than a dozen officers made up this year’s class.   

The new officers stood proudly at Port City Community Church, arriving in their brand-new police cars and wearing their newly earned badges.  

New Officer Jackson Bennett says he is looking forward to protecting the community in his new role in law enforcement.    

“I want to help the community as much as possible. I’m taking it day by day, so you know, helping one person out at a time, moving on, and getting the job done,” said Newly Sworn in Officer, Jackson Bennett.  

After swearing in the new officers, awards were presented to current officers, followed by a promotional ceremony.
