Seahawk softball has Opening Day Thursday

UNCW hosts six-team tournament running through the weekend

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WWAY) – UNCW will host the 2024 CAA softball championships at Boseman Field.

But before that, the team has 52 games to take care of to give themselves a chance at competing in the tournament.

It was head coach Ashley’s Wade first season in the position. The team went undefeated at home during conference and won a program-record 17 conference games (23-27 overall) in 2023 to finish second place in the league.

UNCW is represented by three players – Kara Hammock, Arial Pearce and Tayler Vitola – on the CAA’s Softball Preseason Watch List. All three were All-CAA performers last season with Hammock and Pearce appearing on the league’s First-Team while Vitola earned Second-Team status.

The team hosts Queens Thursday at 6 pm.
