McCrory joins Trump at North Carolina campaign rally
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) – Gov. Pat McCrory will join Donald Trump at a campaign rally to present a unified ticket for the fall elections in North Carolina.
Days after accepting the Republican presidential nomination, Trump is holding a rally Monday in Winston-Salem with his running mate, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence. The 8 p.m. rally lets Trump make a splash in an important southern battleground state on the first night of the Democratic National Convention.
Also on hand will be U.S. Sen. Richard Burr and U.S. Rep. Virginia Foxx, both Republicans.
McCrory hasn’t appeared at Trump’s previous campaign events in North Carolina, but the state’s Republican leaders want voters to see a united party heading toward November.
McCrory is in a tight re-election battle with his Democratic challenger, North Carolina Attorney General Roy Cooper.
