Four-year-old fighting leukemia dreams of becoming police officer

APEX, NC (WRAL) — At 4-years-old, Colt Rever has always wanted to be a police officer, but in June his parents received the devastating news that he had leukemia.

“Total disbelief. It was just unbelievable,” said Colt’s mother, Dolly Rever. “I felt like our world had just crashed down around us.”

After the initial shock, Dolly Rever, and her husband, Matt, made a Facebook page in Colt’s honor asking for patches from first responders around the country.

“We were totally overwhelmed. It happened so quickly,” said Matt Rever. “It blows us away, without a doubt, the amount of support we have received.”

Matt Rever said he has stopped counting, but believed Colt has received more than 800 unique patches from across the country.
