New Hanover County woman accused of barricading herself, 3 children in home and setting it on fire

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A woman is accused of barricading herself and three children inside a house before setting it on fire.

The call about the blaze in the Monterey Heights neighborhood off Cathay Road came in around 11:50 p.m. Monday.

The woman accused of the crime was being involuntarily committed, according to the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office.

They say charges are pending upon her release from the hospital.
