WHATS HAPPENING: April 5th-7th

WHATS HAPPENING (WWAY) — The first weekend of April is approaching, so lets take a look at Whats Happening in the Cape Fear.

 The 77th annual Azalea Festival is sweeping downtown Wilmington this weekend with several events taking place this year. The Azalea Festival Street Fair will feature more than 250 vendors for shopping, food and entertainment. The fair begins Friday at 6pm-10pm, Saturday 10am-10pm and Sunday 10am-6pm.

And of course, you cannot have the Azalea Festival without the Azalea Festival Parade. Hundreds of residents will watch as many different floats, veteran groups, vehicle groups and marching bands make their way through 3rd Street in downtown Wilmington. It begins on Saturday at 9:30am.

In Lake Waccamaw, dozens of elementary, junior high and high school students will be saddling up for the Coastal Challenge Rodeo. 11 elementary, 38 junior high and 81 high school students will compete in saddle back riding, goat tying and bull riding. Its happening on Friday at 7pm and Saturday at 9am at the Benton/BTS Arena & Expedition Center at the Boys & Girls Club in Lake Waccamaw.

In Boiling Spring Lakes, come enjoy the Founders Day Festival on the cities 62nd birthday. A day full of events such as family games, music, food trucks and vendors. Paws Place Dog Rescue will also have dogs available for adoption. Its happening this Saturday from 10am-5pm at the Community Center.
