HAPPENING THIS WEEKEND: Family Farm Day at Wilmington Children’s Museum
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Wilmington Children’s Museum is hosting an annual event this weekend that promises fun for both children and their parents.
Family Farm Day gives visitors a chance to get up close and hands-on with real farm animals. This year there will be a donkey, ducks, sheep, baby goats, chicks, bunnies, and a pig.
The event also features other activities, like farm-themed painting, sensory play, face painting, and more.
Anna Harris, museum educator, says the goal is for kids to have a fun experience, but also learn something.
“Kids will be introduced to examples of sustainable farming practices and renewable energy, which will lay the groundwork for them to become good stewards of Earth’s resources,” Harris said. “Other activities encourage farm themed imaginative play, helping kids to understand where their food comes from and the importance of farmers.”
Family Farm Day is happening on Saturday at the Childen’s Museum at 116 Orange St. in Wilmington from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Tickets for the event can be purchased here. The cost is $5 for members, and $15 for non-members.
