Oak Island reissues request for proposal to conduct parking assessment
OAK ISLAND, NC (WWAY) — Oak Island’s town council wants to take a closer look at the future of its paid parking program.
Earlier this month, town council members unanimously approved to reissue a request for proposals (RFP) to conduct a parking assessment.
According to Mike Emory, Oak Island’s Communications Manager, the initial RFP was issued in December, but no engineers have come forward to express interest.
Emory said the ultimate goal of this assessment will be to maximize parking availability on the island.
“Town council has put out a request for proposals from qualified engineering firms to assess the parking infrastructure within the town. So, we can hopefully provide a more efficient use of the spaces we have and possibly even add more spaces,” Emory said.
Emory said anyone who wants to view that request for proposal and the latest on parking in Oak Island, can visit the town’s website.
