South Brunswick softball wins first-ever state championship
Cougars walked it off to defeat King's Mountain 2-1 to sweep the series
DURHAM, N.C. (WWAY) – The South Brunswick softball team just won their first-ever state championship Saturday.
The Cougars swept the team out of the west, King’s Mountain, with the final score being 2-1 in game 2. Tabatha Martin hit a walk-off double to score Kendra Goodwin. Kina Davis was named MVP after pitching both games, racking up a total of 27 strikeouts, and hitting a home run herself.
The Cougars finish the year on top, with a stellar 26-4 record. The team has zero seniors graduating.
